The UEFA Champions League History
Лига чемпионов УЕФА считается самым престижным европейским клубным турниром. Название «Лига чемпионов» носит с 1992 года, до этого турнир назывался Кубок европейских чемпионов, также изменился и формат проведения: с системы плей-офф он перешел в групповой турнир, а уже затем следовали игры на выбывание. Впервые прошел в 1955 году, где победу одержал «Реал Мадрид».

Teams get into the Champions League group stage either directly or after the qualifying round. The place depends on the national championship standings position and on the country rate in the corresponding UEFA table.
